Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA News) - The death toll in bomb attacks at three churches in the East Java provincial capital of Surabaya on Sunday morning rose to 10, police said. "Ten people died and eight of them have not been identified," spokesman for the East Java Provincial Police Senior Commissioner Frans Barung Mangera said on Sunday.

One more bomb blast victim died after being treated at the Surabaya Surgery Hospital, he said. "One more victim died at the Surabaya Surgery Hospital and another at Dr Soetomo Regional General Hospital, bringing the death toll to 10, while, 41 people are being treated," he said.

He refused to identify the names, ages and sexes of the other victims who died in the scene and hospitals until Chief of the National Police General Tito Karnavian arrived at the East Java Provincial Police Station. "All churches are tightly guarded without postponing their service time," he said.

He said the bomb blast at Santa Maria Tak Bercela Catholic Church occurred at 06.30 a.m., while two other bomb blasts occurred at the Indonesian Christian Church (GKI) at 07.15 a.m. and at Pantekosta Church at 07.53 a.m. respectively.
"We have found several unexploded bombs, including one on Diponegoro Street and two active bombs on Arjuno Street," he said.
