Both sides suggested a number of possible areas for future collaboration including marine environment and blue economy, climate change, renewable energy, biodiversity and the narrowing of the development gap in ASEAN, the ASEAN Secretariat said in a statement, here, Thursday.
The statement was issued following the 3rd Meeting of the ASEAN-Norway Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee (AN-JSCC) held at the ASEAN Secretariat building located in southern Jakarta, on May 28, 2018.
ASEAN and Norway also noted with satisfaction the progress in existing cooperation following the inception of the partnership three years ago.
The meeting discussed extensively the completed, ongoing, and planned projects in implementing the Priority Plan for ASEAN-Norway Sectoral Dialogue Partnership. ASEAN Member States welcomed the support of Norway for activities of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation and ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights as well as the development of the ASEAN Judiciaries Portal.
The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Political-Security Community Department Hoang Anh Tuan and Ambassador of Norway to ASEAN Morten H?glund and was attended by the members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Marianne Hagen also participated in the meeting. Hagen earlier paid a courtesy call on Dato Lim Jock Hoi, ASEAN Secretary General.
