Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government is expecting the best possible outcome from the High-Level Summit between the United States and North Korea taking place in Singapore on Tuesday (June 12).

Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi made the statement on the official page of her Twitter account here on Tuesday.

"My best wishes for the High-Level Summit in Singapore between the US President and the North Korean Leader on (June 12)," she stated.

On another occasion, Vice President Jusuf Kalla noted that the meeting between Kim and Trump could put an end to the conflict on the Korean Peninsula and have a good impact on the Asian region.

"Today, a high-level meeting in Singapore between Trump and Kim is being carried out to find a solution to the conflict on the Korean Peninsula, and we hope that the meeting would end with a good news for Asia and the world," he remarked.

Kim and Trump shook hands while smiling at the start of their historic meeting, when they will seek a way to end the nuclear weapons problem on the Korean peninsula.

Trump and Kim will hold face-to-face meetings for about two hours, before they join other officials and have lunch together.

If the US president and North Korean leader succeed in making a diplomatic breakthrough, it could bring lasting change to the security of Northeast Asia.

Meanwhile, as Trump and Kim are trying to observe the signs of honesty or trickery among each other, the rest of the world will be watching and hoping that the two unpredictable leaders would find ways to ease the problems between the two countries and the region.
