Singapore, an ASEAN member, being selected as a location for the meeting between the two state heads reflected a positive contribution to the settlement of the US-North Korean conflict.
"We see that as a member of the ASEAN countries, Singapore is trusted (for holding the meeting), although the country is not actively involved but its contribution has yielded a positive result," he noted.
Currently, Trump and Kim are holding bilateral meetings. If the result is positive, it might lead to a multilateral meeting that will involve other parties to follow up on the previous agreement.
The ASEAN was likely to be involved along with the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Moreover, there is a possibility that Indonesia, as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, could also be involved.
Meanwhile, Trump and Kim, accompanied by an interpreter, held a closed-door meeting at the Capella Hotel in Singapore on Tuesday.
Before starting the meeting, the two heads of state shook hands in front of media personnel that covered the historic event.
Furthermore, meetings of delegations of both countries were scheduled.
