Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The governments of Indonesia and Thailand will hold the 9th Joint Consultative Meeting on July 5 and 6, 2018, in Yogyakarta Province in Indonesia.

Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir said on Thursday that one of the bilateral issues that will be highlighted at the meeting is the effort to improve the Indonesia-Thailand cooperation in the economic field, especially in trade and investment.

The value of bilateral trade between Indonesia and Thailand in 2017 reached 15.74 billion US dollars, while the value of Thai investment in Indonesia reached 220 million US dollars in 2017.

Indonesia`s main export commodities to Thailand include iron ore, coal, chemical products, automobile parts and seafood products. On the other hand, Indonesia imports automotive products from Thailand.

In addition to economic cooperation, the consultative meeting will also discuss cooperation in the fields of politics and security, energy and mining, agriculture and fisheries.

"In addition to bilateral issues, the meeting will also discuss regional issues, especially within the framework of the ASEAN cooperation," he said.

Moreover, Indonesia and Thailand will also discuss some developments in the region, including in the Korean Peninsula.
