Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) finally held in detention Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf after being grilled until past midnight Wednesday on graft charge .

The governor was named a suspect in corruption case in the allocation of fund for autonomous region of Aceh (DOKA) in the 2018 fiscal year.

"Irwandi Yusuf, the governor of the province of Aceh would be held in detention for 20 at least days," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said here on Thursday.

Irwandi denied the charge when asked by reporters after he walked out from the KPK building to a car waiting to carry him to the detention house.

"There is graft charge. I did not ask and also did not receive," the governor said.

He also denied knowledge about Regent of Bener Meriah giving him a share of Rp500 million of Rp1.5 billion in illegal fee from contractors of infrastructure projects in the province.

"I know nothing about it . We received no fee," he said, adding he would just follow the legal process.

KPK also detained a businessman Hendri Yuzal. Altogether KPK named four suspects in the case including Regent of Bener Meriah Aceh Ahmadi (AMD) and another businessman T Syaiful Bahri (TSB).

A deputy chairwoman of KPK Basaria Panjaitan said KPK is still investigating the case for possible corruption in other previous projects in the province.
