We are trying to have consular access to match the data."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Foreign Ministry is still verifying a report that the Malaysian police have detained three suspected terrorists from Indonesia.
"We have yet to receive any notification about the three Indonesian nationals. We only learned it (the issue) from a news story. The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is trying to have consular access," Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi said in the Presidential Palace compounds in Jakarta on Thursday (July 19).
The verification is necessary to see if the three are Indonesian nationals since the initial information is still an allegation, she said.
Therefore, the ministry will still have to verify the data it has received from relevant parties, she said.
"This is still an allegation. We still have to verify their data. We are trying to have consular access to match the data," she said.
The Malaysian police have reportedly detained seven Malaysian and Indonesian citizens for allegedly being involved in hardline militant activities.
The seven were arrested in the four Malaysian states of Trengganu, Selangor, Perak, and Johor. between July 12 and 17.
One of the arrested Indonesian citizens has pledged to receive military training from the Indonesian Islamic State (NII).
The other Indonesian citizen is suspected of having link to a member of Jama`ah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) accused of being involved in the murder of a ranking police officer in West Java on May 10.
The other Indonesia has claimed to be a member of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group.
