Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Infrastructure construction for the 18th Asian Games including venues and non-venues will be fully completed by July 31, a government official said here on Sunday.

The official in charge of the development project, public works minister Basuki Hadimuljono said he would report to President Joko Widodo that the project has been ready for inauguration early in August.

"At Gelora Bung Karno, all facilities have been completed including the squash venue which I have even tried. The Cofftea House and Parking Building A and B have also been finished," he said when inspecting the progress of the development project at Gelora Bung Karno sports complex and pavement on Sudirman street.

He said as a whole the construction has now been 99 percent finished while construction of the cauldron as well as the pavement on Sudirman is still ongoing and they are expected to finish on July 25.

"On July 31 the whole work on the Asian Games infrastructure including the pavement will be finished and then I will report to President Joko Widodo so he may inaugurate them all including the Bung Karno (first president) statue, jetskiing an sailing venue in Ancol early in August 2018," he said.

The development and renovation of venues and supporting buildings at the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex has been carried out the ministry of public works since 2016 at a total cost of up to Rp3.7 trillion.
