Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The presence of a clear legal and doctrine mechanism is essential in building connections and bridging gaps between international and national laws.

"It will result in Indonesia`s firm response towards the implementation of international law," Director General for Legal Affairs and International Treaties, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Damos Dumoli Agusman, noted in a statement here on Tuesday.

The statement was delivered during the discussion on ?The Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions into Indonesian National Law" in Bandung (July 23).

Agusman expressed hope that through this dialogue, Indonesia will soon be able to have a clear and solid legal mechanism in implementing United Nations Security Council resolutions into Indonesia`s national law.

"This event is a timely follow-up to Indonesia`s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2019-2020," he remarked.

The meeting was hosted by the Directorate General of Legal Affairs and International Treaties, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of Padjadjaran University (FH UNPAD).

The discussion included notable guest speakers, ranging from academicians to government practitioners, namely Brig. Gen. (Pol.) Eddy Hartono (Deputy Head of Special Detachment 88 of the Indonesian National Police), Dr. Suhadi, S.H., M.H. (Honorable Justice at Indonesian Supreme Court), Dr. Idris, S.H., M.A. (International Law Professor at the Faculty of Law of Padjadjaran University), and Grata Endah Werdaningtyas (Director for International Security and Nuclear Disarmament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
