"This morning we carried out a simulation to respond to threats during the Asian Games, including bomb threats and terrorism," the Head of the Jakarta Metro Police Department`s Public Relations Division, Police Chief Commissioner Argo Yuwono, said in Jakarta on Friday.
He stated that the police will work together with military forces to secure the Asian Games venues.
Argo also revealed that there will be more pre-operation simulations leading up to the games.
Earlier, Deputy Police Chief Com. Gen. Syafruddin said state police have carried out high-level security preparations to ensure the successful implementation of the Asian Games this year.
A joint force of 60,000 police and military personnel has been tasked with maintaining security ahead of and during the events, according to Syafruddin, who is also chairman of the Indonesian Asian Games contingent.
He said all athletes and participants will be under maximum security protection as soon as they arrive in Indonesia and until they return to their respective countries.
Police and military personnel have also carried out a number of security simulations ahead of the quadrennial games.
