"Emergency tents have been set up to accommodate injured victims, because the community health post`s building is damaged," Harry Hikmat, director general of social insurance and protection of the social affairs ministry, said here, Sunday.
Several emergency tents were set up in Sembalun, East Lombok District.
The social affairs ministry deployed 60 personnel and provided relief aid for the quake`s victims.
Commissioner Nanang Budi Santosa, deputy chief of the Mataram Police said he deployed a number of officers to help distribute food and mineral waters in several areas, particularly in Obel-obel, East Lombok, which is the worst affected by the natural disaster.
"We have also deployed a team to help evacuation in affected areas," he said.
Meanwhile, Chief of the East Lombok Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Eka Fathurahman, said 18 Malaysian tourists holidaying in Mount Rinjani eco-tourism area in Sembalun, East Lombok, were affected by the earthquake.
"Of the 18 Malaysian citizens, one was dead, six injured and the rest shocked," he said.
The dead Malaysian was identified by her name as Siti Nur Ismawida (30), who was hit by collapsed wall in a home accommodating the 18 Malaysians.
The earthquake hit Lombok and Sumawa Islands, West Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday at 6:47 a.m. local time, but did not have potential to trigger a tsunami.
The tremor`s epicenter was located at 8.4 degree southern latitude and 116.55 degree eastern longitude, 47 km east of Mataram and at a depth of 24 km.
Following the earthquake, Lombok was jolted by tens of aftershocks.
