Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Lombok is in a tsunami alert status following the issuance of early warning after an earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale shook West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Sunday at 6.46 p.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB).

"We continue to monitor its progress. Lombok is in a tsunami warning status," said Head of Earthquake and Tsunami Center of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BKMG), Rahmat Triyono, who was contacted in Jakarta on Sunday.

He explained that the alert status warning meant that the wave height was less than 50 centimeters.

After the earthquake, a tsunami was detected with a height of 0.135 m in Carik at 6:48 p.m. WIB and Badas with an altitude of 0.100 m at 6:54 p.m. WIB.

Previously an earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale rocked West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Sunday at 6.46 p.m WIB, the BMKG issued a tsunami early warning.

The epicenter of the earthquake is located at 8.37 degrees southern latitude and 116.48 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 15 kilometers.
