Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian people in Sydney, Australia, welcome the Asian Games 2018 by holding the Indonesia Harmony Activity in 34 provinces throughout the country.

"The 2018 Indonesia Harmony Activity is held to welcome the Asian Games 2018 which will take place in Jakarta and Palembang, as well as the 73rd anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day," Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Heru Hartanto Subolo, told reporters in a statement via a short message service received by Antara here on Monday.

The 2018 Indonesia Harmony is held in 34 provinces in Indonesia and 10 locations abroad, including at the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney on August 5, 2018.

Representatives of Indonesian people in Sydney and the surrounding areas participated in the 2018 Indonesian Harmony which was started at 11.00 local time.

Indonesia will host the 18th Asian Games from August 18 to September 2, 2018 in the four provinces of South Sumatra, Jakarta, Banten and West Java.

The 2018 Indonesia Harmony Activity was filled by singing the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, and national songs.

"One of the important things from the 2018 Indonesia Harmony is singing the national anthem and national songs because this fosters our love to the homeland and pride of Indonesia," Consul General Subolo said.

At the Asian Games 2018, Indonesia will host 16 thousand athletes, who will compete in 40 sports, and officials from 45 participating countries.

This is the second time for Indonesia to host the Asian Games, after the one held in Jakarta in 1962.
