Health Ministry Secretary General Untung Suseno Sutarjo symbolically dispatched the 2018 Asian Games health team in a call for readiness at the National Monument IRTI Square here on Wednesday morning.
In addition to 1,805 trained health workers, consisting of some 400 doctors, hundreds of nurses and physiotherapists, the Ministry of Health and related agencies also? set up 170 health care locations inside the arena, three health centers outside the arena,?made available?230 ambulances,?
along with 27 main hospitals in Jakarta, Palembang, West Java, and Banten.
The ministry will also provide five mini-Intensive Care Units?to be available during the opening and closing ceremony of the Asian Games, along with two polyclinics at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran in Jakarta.
"Indonesia is committed to providing the best services, because the Asian Games are the responsibility of the nation, and will??represent?the country`s good name. Therefore, optimal health services are very important," Untung noted .
The health workers have participated in trainings held???in?several phases, and also a number of simulations to test their skills.
"There are a number of phases of training, and each is participated in by around 100 health workers ,"??said Bambang Wibowo, the Ministry of Health`s Director General of Health Services.
In addition, modules and training are arranged, in collaboration with various professional organizations, such as the Indonesian Doctors Association and the Indonesian Association of Emergency Doctors, the Indonesian National Nurses Association, and the Association of Sports Medicine Specialists.
All Asian Games athletes are provided with health insurance.
Health care workers will be on duty before the opening ceremony, because there are a number of sporting events that will start early, such as football on (August 10), basketball and baseball.
