Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA News) - Chairman of People`s Representative Assembly (MPR), Zulkifli Hasan, along with tens of thousands of Lampung residents, responded to the Asian Games torch in Bandarlampung City on Wednesday afternoon.

The carnival was followed by athletes, students, university students, government employees, employees of state enterprises ministry (BUMN) and regional state enterprises (BUMD), the private sector, and the military and police apparatuses. Officials in Lampung Province and Bandar Lampung City also participated in the torch carnival.

Residents and students of the city thronged the side of the road for the activity titled "2018 Asian Games Torch in Bandarlampung."

The torch of the Asian Games, which arrived from Tulang Bawang Regency, was received by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, who was also born in Tanjungjarang, Bandarlampung, on the flyover of Jalan ZA Pagaralam at around 10:00 WIB.

The torch was then paraded through Teuku Umar street, Kota Raja, to Raden Intan street. Lampung Governor M Ridho then handed over the torch to Hasan on Raden Intan street.

Hasan, who is also a Lampung-born figure, received a relay and carried a torch and was paraded to Adipura Monument. The carnival continued to Sudirman street until Ir Juanda street crosses the Pahoman Stadium.

Then, the parade continued to the streets of Way Sekampung, Dr Susilo, Pangeran Diponegoro, MH Thamrin, and Wolter Monginsidi.

State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno then welcomed the torch on Cut Nyak Dien street in front of Telkom Plaza. The torch was taken in the direction of Katamso street to go back to Raden Intan street.

It was then paraded to the streets of Tulangbawang, Majapahit, and ended at Tugu Adipura.

The carnival is accompanied by Lampung arts and cultural performances, which add to the lively Asian Games torch relay. (E002/INE)
