In order to ease the misery and suffering of the quake victims, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has sent 21 tons of
logistical assistance and equipment, using a special cargo plane, according to BNPB Head for Information and Public Relations Center Sutopo Purwo Nugroho.
Nugroho remarked here on Wednesday that his side also provided intensive assistance and ready-to-use funds for emergency handling.
"BNPB, and the Military and Police, National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, Health Ministry, Social Affairs Ministry, and other ministries and institution jointly keep on handling the emergency response.
The Military also opened a post in the Suma 4 Building, VIP Room at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport in East Jakarta to facilitate the distribution of assistance to earthquake victims.
It also sent as many as 387 soldiers to disaster location and deploy as many as three warships.
While the National Police, dispatched four company-level units (SSK) or around 400 people, five health teams (60 people) and two helicopters, and to safeguards government assets.
The National Police also sent 25 psychologists to evacuation to provide trauma healing therapy to victims of the earthquake disaster.
Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (KemenPUPR), plans to make drill wells in evacuation locations to meet water needs and send 16 public hydrants with a capacity of 2,000 liters, 30 public hydrants with a capcity of 1,000 liter, and 26 units of public toilet.
The Ministry of Communication and Information also helped alternative communication networks by providing additional internet access through portable VSAT networks with a capacity of 1 Mb for disaster management needs.
The Ministry of Health mobilizes as many as 87 health workers from the central and regional levels. It also sent two tons of supplementary food, and 3.5 tons of medicine.
The Ministry of Social Affairs provided compensation for the families of the deceased victims in the amount of Rp15 million, and for the injured victims Rp2.5 million.
The total aid from the Ministry of Social Affairs to victims of the earthquake worth Rp3.1 billion consisting of logistical assistance, expert assistance, and 3000 packages of basic necessities.
