Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sydney held an event "Indonesian Harmony 2018" on August 5 to simultaneously welcome Asian Games 2018 and to commemorate the 73rd Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day.

Indonesian Consul General in Sydney Heru Hartanto Subolo said in a statement here on Thursday that the Indonesian Harmony 2018 was celebrated in 34 Indonesian provinces and 10 locations worldwide, including Sydney.

Around 80 members of the Indonesian community in Sydney and surrounding areas participated in the event, held at the Consulate.

This year, Indonesia will host the 18th ASIAN Games, which will take place from Aug 18 to Sept 2,2018.

As part of simultaneous celebrations in Indonesia and nine other locations around the world, the 2018 Indonesian Harmony event started with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, and continued with four more national songs, including Indonesia Pusaka, Rayuan Pulau Kelapa, Bagimu Negeri, and Satu Nusa Satu Bangsa.

Consul General Subolo said one of the important reasons for singing the national songs at the event was a spirit of cultivating love and pride of Indonesia in hearts of visitors.

The series of 2018 Indonesian Harmony activities in Sydney ran smoothly and safely. The attendants were served with a group photo and traditional food.
