Jakarta (ANTARA News)- The Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) reviewed the readiness of volunteers in carrying out their duties to facilitate and assist athletes participating in the 18th Asian Games to be co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2, 2018.

Adjunct Senior Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, deputy in charge of security affairs of INASGOC, visited volunteers deployed at the Jakarta Convention Center and surrounding areas, here, on Friday.

"You are our helping hands in the fields. So, keep communicating. Complete your tasks in accordance with your functions and responsibilities," he said, addressing a number of young people volunteering during the Asian Games 2018.

He reminded them to do their best and make foreign athletes feel at home while staying in Indonesia during the Asian Games.

INASGOC believes that the support from the Indonesian people, particularly the volunteers, is the key to the success of the 18th Asian Games 2018.

A total of 16,920 athletes and officials from 45 Asian countries have registered for the Games. Overall, more than 11 thousand athletes will vie for medals in 40 sports and 67 disciplines.

For Indonesia, the 18th Asian Games, the largest multi-sport event in Asia, is the best opportunity to promote its tourist destinations, particularly in Jakarta and Palembang, the capital of South Sumatra.
