Jokowi visited a number of evacuation sites for earthquake-affected victims in North Lombok on Tuesday morning.
After reviewing the Tanjung Hospital and Tanjung Market buildings, which were damaged, the president and his entourage visited the evacuation post in the courtyard of Pemenang Police, Pemenang Subdistrict, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
According to the data obtained, as many as 3,662 refugees received assistance while waiting for the central government to assist them in rebuilding their houses.
A number of refugees were able to submit their complaints directly to the president regarding the teaching and learning activities of their children that were stopped due to this earthquake.
Responding to this, Jokowi remarked that his party had instructed the relevant staff to start rebuilding schools that had collapsed.
"The Minister of Public Works would rebuild the schools soon," he asserted.
In addition, the government will also rebuild the collapsed markets next week. The development of the market is expected to be able to restore the local economy.
The government has allocated a budget, amounting to Rp50 million, to provide assistance to residents whose houses have been severely damaged. As for slight damages, the government would provide an assistance of Rp25 million.
"It will be done, as supervised by the province by the Governor. The Minister of Public Works will also provide guidance on building earthquake-resistant houses in future," he pointed out.
The president was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Chief of Presidential Staff Moeldoko, National Police Chief Gen.
