Cibinong, W Java (ANTARA News) - Danone Aqua, the official hydration sponsor of the 18th Asian Games, is promoting a program called "kindness contingent," according to Danone-AQUA Marketing Manager, Jeffri Ricardo.

The company hoped that the Asian Games 2018 would not be just a sporting event but something that could inspire the public at large, he said here on Wednesday.

In addition to providing hydration, the company invites the public to become a "kindness contingent" during the Asian Games torch rally (July 17 to Aug 17) and the 18th Asian Games (Aug 18 to Sept 2).

The company has called on the Asian Games audience to maintain cleanliness and collect plastic wastes for recycling.

It participated in the torch relay in Yogyakarta, Bali, and Palembang in South Sumatra Province.

In Bogor, a number of employees of AQUA Ciherang plant, Distribution Center in Cibinong, and AQUA Citeureup plant were deployed to mingle with the public as #KindnessContingent in welcoming the torch relay.

#KindnessContingent shows appreciation to successful athletes.

"Like water, kindness also flows everywhere. Every one behind the success of an athlete deserves acknowledgement for their valuable support," he remarked.

The 18th Asian Games will be officially co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra Province, from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018.

The qualification soccer matches of the Asian Games, however, have been held over the last weekend in Bekasi stadium, among others.

A total of 16,920 athletes and officials from 45 Asian countries have been registered for the Games. Overall, more than 11 thousand athletes will vie for medals in 40 sports and 67 disciplines.

As the host, Indonesia is optimistic of clinching at least 10 gold medals in badminton, martial arts, and athletics, among others, and being included in the top 10 of the medal`s tally.
