Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia will show its history as a maritime country from the period of Sriwijaya Kingdom to Majapahit at a show to be performed for the opening of the 18th Asian Games on Saturday evening, dance arranger Denny Malik said.

"One of the segments will exhibit the richness of Indonesian marine resources. `Nusantara` (the archipelago) in the 7th century from the period of Sriwijaya to Majapahit wiil be displayed at the opening event. There will be Gajah Mada, the national uniting figure," he said to media persons on Friday.

According to the Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC) record there will be 3,600 dancers to be involved in the opening of the biggest multi-sports event in Asia.

Denny said dance performances that will be shown at the opening event come from the country`s 34 provinces.

"The dance performances will be concluded with the `Energy of Asia` theme cosmopolitan show (describing) the past through the future," he said.

He said Indonesia is rich of great art dances that other countries do not have and which are worth displaying for the opening of the Asian Games.

"We have art and cultural shows that are world-class and that all countries can enjoy and are not outdated," he said.

Denny said total of 3,600 dancers have been trained for the performances for the opening ceremony of the 18th Asian Games, adding it takes five months to prepare as some people involved are elementary and junior high school students.

Besides dance performances there will also be top singers such ad Raisa, Ariel, Tulus, Kamasean, Fatin, GAC, Putri Ayu, Rian D`Massive, Cakra Khan, Sheryl Sheinafia, Rossa, Wizzy, Rinni Wulandari, Edo Kondologit, Maruli Tampubolon and Via Vallen at the openning event.

Eko Suprianto will also be involved as the dance arranger besides Denny and they will be supported by Addie MS and Ronald Steven as music arrangers, Grammy Award nominator Joey Alexander and international singer Anggun C Sasmi.
