Palembang, S. Sumatra (ANTARA News) - As many as 50 athletes in shooting sport would compete in the first day of qualification phase for trap category in Jakabaring Sport City in South Sumatra`s capital city of Palembang on Sunday.

Twenty athletes would take part in the women`s trap and 30 athletes in men`s trap in the ongoing 18th Asian Games.

In its first round, Chinese Taipei athlete Wanyu Liu grabbed the highest point, followed by Y. Nakayama (Japan), Seema Tomar (India), Kitcharoen (Thailand), and Geeeun Kang (South Korea).

While Indonesian shooting athlete Sarmunah and Sylvia Silimang were ranked 14 and 15 respectively.

The shooting sports on Sunday would also contend 10m air rifle mixed team and 10m air pistol mixed team.

As many as 58 athletes from 29 countries would compete in the 10m air rifle mixed team, and 54 athletes from 27 countries to take part in the 10m air pistol.

The Indonesian team would present Monica Daryanti and M. Naufal Mahardika for the 10m air rifle mixed team and Talitha J. Almira and Deny Pratama for the 10m air pistol mixed team.

"The toughest competitors would be China, India and Korea," manager of the Indonesian team Sarozawato Zai told Antara.
