According to the data collected till 12:30 a.m. local time, Indonesia added one more gold medal from the wushu sport, through Lindswell Kwok, in the female Taijiquan-Taijijian number.
During the event at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, witnessed directly by President Joko Widodo, Lindswell collected a total score of 19.50. The achievement was an accumulation from her performances in Taijiquan and Taijijian, earning 9.75 points in each.
The athlete from Medan, North Sumatra, outperformed Hong Kong rival Mok Uen Yinn Juanita, who scored an overall score of 19.42, while the bronze medal was won by Agatha Chrystenzen Wong (Philippines), who got the final score of 19.36.
The Indonesian contingent collected two gold medals and is now ranked fifth in the temporary medals list. Taekwondoin Defia Rosmaniar won the first gold medal from Poomsae number (the art of neatness in the style) on the first day.
Defending champions China still firmly lead the 2018 Asian Games medal standings. The Bamboo Curtain Country Contingent added two more gold medals from the wushu sports and shooting, reaching seven gold medals achieved on the first day.
Chinese wushu athletes, Lu Tang, won the number of Nanquan and Nandao Putri, with a total score of 19.49. The second position was occupied by Darya Latisheva (Uzbekistan), who collected a score of 19.27, and Ka Ying Yuen (Hong Kong), with a final score of 19.27 in the third place.
The Indonesian representative in this number, Juwita Niza Wasni, had to settle for fourth place, with a score of 18.97.
China obtained one additional gold medal from shooting at the Jakabaring Sport City complex, Palembang, South Sumatra, through Haoran Yang in the 10-meter male air rifle.
With a total score of 249.1 from 24 times the target of aiming, Yang confirmed the gold medal for his country after his heavy opponent Kumar Deepak from India collected only 247.1.
The bronze medal was won by Shaochuan Lu from Chinese Taipei, who scored the final score of 226.8, while Indonesian athlete Muhammad Naufal Mahardika was unable to compete and was eliminated in the qualifying round.
Overall, on the second day of the 2018 Asian Games, there were 29 gold medals contested in 10 sports, including gold swimming(7), wrestling (5), shooting (4), taekwondo (3), mountain bike racing (2), fencing (2), wushu (2), weightlifting (2), riding (1), and gymnastics (1).
