She clocked 26.98 seconds to break the previous world record of 27.06 seconds made by China?s Zhao Jing at the Aquatic World Championship in Rome in 2009.
The 21-year old athlete won a bronze medal in the women`s backstroke 50-meter event in the Final Aquatic World Championship 2015 in Kazan.
The gold medal, which was her first from the Asian Games 2018, added to the collection of medals of the Chinese swimming team, which already consists of nine gold, seven silver, and seven bronze medals.
The silver medal of the women`s 50-meter backstroke event went to Chinese Fu Yuanhui clocking 27.68, while the bronze medal went to Natsumi Sakai from Japan who clocked 29.91 seconds.
