Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Japan has so far garnered 10 gold, 11 silver, and six bronze medals from swimming.

With a total of 43 medals, Japan is second only to China, which has collected 56 medals from swimming.

On Tuesday, Japanese swimmer Rikako Ikee again made her country`s national flag get raised at the 18th Asian Games` arena.

She has even set a new record in the women`s 100-meter butterfly by clocking in at 56.30 seconds ahead of the previous Asian Games record of 56.61 seconds set by Chinese swimmer Chen Xingyi in the Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, South Korea.

With the time record, Ikee won the gold medal in the 100-meter butterfly event.

Before having the gold medal placed around her neck, the gold medalist in the women`s 50-meter freestyle, the women`s 50-meter butterfly, and the women`s 100-meter butterfly in the Asian Swimming Championship 2016 in Tokyo waved to Japanese spectators at the stadium.

The silver medal went to Chinese swimmer Zhang Yufei, who clocked in at 57.40 seconds. South Korean swimmer Ah Sehyeon, who clocked in at 58 seconds, won the bronze medal.
