The downstream Country Team trio, comprising athletes Cheah Mei Lan, Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman, and Syaidatul Afifah, were confirmed the best on that number, with a score of 4326, beating Chinese Taipei silver trio, with 4255, and Singapore as winners of bronze, with 4250.
The Malaysian contingent celebrated the success with joy, which was greeted with enthusiasm by the team official and a number of supporters who sat in the upper stands. They hugged each other and congratulated each other on the success.
"We are very happy to get a gold medal today, which is actually a surprise. We maintained a good communication with team members, and that was our key to victory," a Malaysian female player, Syaidatul Afifah, stated after the match.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian trio in the mainstay match number, Aldila Andryati, Nadia Paramanik, and Tannya Roemimper, had to settle for the eighth place, with a score of 3976, or 350 points less than the gold winners.
The Indonesian trio failed to win the first gold from the first bowling event of the 2018 Asian Games held in Palembang City. The other trio, Slisha Nabila Larasati, Puti Insavilla, and Sharon Addelina Liman Santoso, had to settle for the 13th place, with a score of 3854.
The trio women`s match number is the first number from the 2018 Asian Games bowling competition, which was attended by 23 teams from 13 countries.
There was tight competition since the first game between the Malaysian, Korean, Chinese Taipei teams, and the host Indonesia. In the match on the `long oil` track, specialist athletes, such as those owned by Malaysia and Chinese Taipei, were able to take advantage of their strengths by gaining significant numbers.
At the end of the third game, two top Malaysian teams were on top. Cheah Mei Lan trio, Siti Safiyah Amirah, and Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi became the toppers of the match, with a score of 2184, followed by their second team Sin Li Jane, Natasha Mohamed Roslan, and Zhalin Zulkifli, with 2151.
Indonesian athletes II, Tannya Roumimper, Aldila Indryati, and Nadia Paramanik ranked fifth at the end of the third game, with a score of 2045, below the Chinese trio of Taipei and South Korea.
After the break, the match for the second block took place, starting at 14.15 WIB with "medium oil." There were changes in strategy in the second half, adding to the hunt for more stringent values. But the two Malaysian trios performed consistently while competing with their compatriots in the women`s trio match.
In the fourth game, Malaysia, which was driven by Siti Safiyah, competed on the 22nd and 23rd tracks flanked by Korean rivals, Chinese Taipei, and host Indonesia. The team, dressed in brown with black stripes, appeared consistent with every strike to get away from Korea and Chinese Taipei.
The same thing happened with Singapore, which was left behind in the first block and was finally able to rise to take advantage of the last three games by finishing third with a bronze medal.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian bowling team manager, Ronny Arnold Mandagi, admitted that his athletes were not able to showcase their best performance.
"The athletes were not able to show their best performances so far, and the average value of each throw was also below normal. We will immediately conduct an evaluation," Mandagi remarked.
But he admitted that the target number was a gold shot for the Indonesian team. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic that they would be able to present two gold medals from the bowling alley.
"We are still optimistic about the two government`s gold target; we will try our best in the next number, both in the men`s trio and in the sixth team. Our chances are still open, and we will continue to showcase our best performance at the bowling alley," he added.
