Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Indonesian shooter M. Sejahtera Dwi Putra led the men`s 10-meter running target qualifying round at Jakabaring Sport City in Palembang, South Sumatra, held as part of the Asian Games 2018, on Thursday.

Putra scored 290 points for slow target on the first day of the qualification round, leaving behind Durun Xie of China, with 289 points. The 28-year-old Chinese shooter was the gold medalist in the running target mixed doubles at the Asian Games 2014 held in Incheon, South Korea.

Vietnamese shooter Huu Vuong Ngo ranked third with 288 points.

Indonesia fielded Irfandi Julio and Putra in the qualifying round.

Julio, who scored 279 points, ranked 12th in the two-day qualifying round, which brought together 13 athletes.

The second day of the qualifying round will use a fast target system. The finals will be held on Friday (August 24).

The 10-meter running target event is not popular in Indonesia. Hence, not all regions in the country have facilities for the event. Only Jakarta and Jakabaring Sport City in Palembang, which are co-hosting the pan Asian multi sporting event, have the facilities requied.
