Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Kyrgyzstan claimed the gold medal in the women`s 10,000 meters event at the Asian Games 2018 held at Bung Karno Stadium here on Saturday.

Kyrgyzstan`s Daria Maslova clocked in at 32:07:23.

The silver medal went to Bahrain`s Eunice Chumba who finished with a time of 32:11:12.

Deshun Zhang of China, who finished third with a time of 32:12:78 secured the bronze medal.

The three runners waged a fierce competition ahead of the last lap of the 10,000 meter race. They managed to leave the other eight runners behind.

Host Indonesia did not field any of its runners to the event.

A total of four gold medals were up for grabs on the first day of the Asian Games 2018 athletics.
