Putussibau, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Several handicraft products from Kapuas Hulu Sub-district, West Kalimantan, were on display during the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang.

"Handicraft products from Kapuas Hulu are highly sought after, including bracelets and other accessories that are unique to the Dayak tribe of Kapuas Hulu," Franciska Mening, owner of the Kerawing Gallery, Kapuas Hulu, noted when contacted by Antara, Monday.

Mening revealed that the handicrafts were displayed on the exhibition stand of the West Kalimantan Tourism Office.

The Kerawing Gallery owner noted that the stand was visited by customers looking to purchase handicraft products made of natural materials, including beads and fabric, with prints unique to the Dayak tribe.

Mening believed that the handicraft products could help to promote the arts and culture of the area. She added that it was not merely about financial profits but also the passion to promote the art and cultural potential of Kapuas Hulu on the international stage.

"Surely, through the arts and craft of Kapuas Hulu, we are promoting our culture as well," she stated.

Mening also remarked that her gallery specialized in handicraft items unique to the Dayak tribe of Kapuas Hulu and were often featured during national events.
