Nguyen scored a landslide 5-0 over his opponent in the male J class 90 kilograms-95 kilograms at the Pencak Silat Padepokan of the Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park (TMII) in East Jakarta on Wednesday.
Nguyen won the gold medal, while Khaizul had to accept his defeat by getting a silver medal.
In the first round, Nguyen was overwhelmed by the attack from Malaysian fighters. He also lost in the first round, 8-6.8-6.8-3.9-4, and 8-4.
In the second round, he tried to catch up with the points he achieved. With the backing of Indonesian supporters, he managed to carry out attacks that hit the opponent`s target.
The points received by the two fighters only had a slight difference, namely 10-6.8-6.9-7.8-6, and 8-6. The Vietnamese athlete won in the second round.
Khaizul could actually pursue his abandonment in the second round. However, the attack, the slam launched did not get points.
In fact, he received a reprimand for turning emotional after he was unable to get points twice, resulting in a two-point deduction.
Vietnam won the event after scoring points in the third round, namely 2-1,2-0,2 - (- 2), 4 - (- 1), and 4 - (- 2)..
