According to the statement received here, on Wednesday, the devices included super inductive system, high-intensity laser, targeted radiofrequency therapy (TRT), and shockwave therapy.
The physical therapy devices are equipped with sophisticated technology and will allow injured athletes to go back to the competition immediately.
The Super Inductive System is a device that uses electromagnetic wave with high intensity and possesses many functions. It can serve as an analgesic to reduce pain. It can mobilize the joints, help reduce swelling, as well as relax tense muscles.
As for the high-intensity laser, the device is usually used in response to cases involving acute inflammation, including sprained ankle.
The laser can also be used as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory device, which can help reduce swellings. It also serves as a bio-stimulant that helps speed up the recovery process.
There is also the targeted radiofrequency therapy, which is a radiofrequency wave that imposes two biological effects.
The thermal effect of the device can relax muscle spasms, help in tissue regeneration and result in hearing of, while the non-thermal function can be used in acute cases such as reducing swelling, as well as decrease the excess from metabolism that have piled up on the muscles.
Overall, the TRT is very fitting to be used on athletes with injured muscles or tendons.
Cases such as cramps on the muscles in the thighs and calves, experienced by Indonesian badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting during a match against Shi Yuqi from China, can be treated with this device.
The next physical therapy device is the shockwave. The treatment with this device can provide rapid effects on reducing pain and relaxing the muscles.
It can also absorb calcification, help in the buildup of calcium within the human system, and form new tissues in the body.
The shockwave therapy is fitting to be used for chronic inflammation on the tendons and muscle spasms, and also to relieve pain around the bone in the heel, which is often experienced by athletes.
The modern therapy devices are supplied by producers of health devices PT Bold Technologies Leading or BTL Indonesia, in cooperation with the INASGOC.
The CEO of the company, Yosua Agus Widodo, remarked that BTL Indonesia is one of the sponsors of the 2018 Asian Games, and it is providing the devices in Kemayoran Wisma Atlet, where the athletes are staying in Jakarta, which are being used by contingents of participating countries.
They are also provided in selected areas of the competition venues and are accessible to Indonesian teams.
"Apart from physical therapy devices, our company also provides machines that can check the athlete`s health conditions, including the functions of their hearts and lungs with EKG and CPET, as well as Stress Test and Spiro. We also recently launched a technology for early detections for risks of sudden death on young athletes using the device we call `Sudden Death Syndrome`," he explained.
Health is surely an important factor for all athletes competing in the 2018 Asian Games, and Indonesia, as the host this year, has ensured that it is being well taken care of.
Besides the sophisticated health devices, the INASGOC has also made sure that the athletes also receive proper nutrients from the food they consume.
All the food served in the Wisma Atlet has to go through multiple tests, including ones from the Ministry of Health, health experts, and the INASGOC itself.
They also need to meet the standards of the ISO 9001:2015 on quality management, ISO 22000:2005 on food safety system, and ISO 14001:2018 on environmental management system.
The food supply in the Main Dining Hall of the Athlete Village is provided by PT Gobel Dharma Sarana Karya (GDSK).
Owner of GDSK Regi Datau stated that he had provided the nutrition facts on every type of food they serve in the Athlete Village.
"From Indonesian menu to international ones, the food that we serve varies, as there are a lot of athletes from various different countries. We also provide middle-eastern cuisines and even vegetarian options for those who do not eat meat. Before we serve them, we also make sure that the dishes, especially meat-based ones, are not contaminated by ingredients in the list classified as doping," he pointed out.
