Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Ambassador to Zambia Stephanus Yuwono invited Indonesian citizens in Zambia to exercise their right to vote in the 2019 General Election.

Ambassador Yuwono and Harare`s Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) team held community development and election socialization activities at the Kansanshi Mining Company, North Western Solwezi Province, Zambia, according to a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Harare made available to Antara, here, on Monday.

Some 135 Indonesian citizens work at the Kansanshi Mining Company.

Ambassador Stephanus invited Indonesian citizens in Zambia to take pride in being citizens of a democratic country and to exercise their voting rights in the election to be held on April 13, 2018, in Solwezi, Zambia.

The Harare PPLN Team emphasized the importance of data validity as the basis for determining the number of ballots. All Indonesian citizens must be able to be facilitated to channel their voting rights.

Harare`s PPLN Team also appealed to Indonesian citizens, whose names were not registered in the final voter list (DPT) and/or planned to use their voting rights in Indonesia during polling day, to immediately report to PPLN Harare to make a letter of introduction to the polling station (TPS).

Indonesian citizens, who attended the socialization event by the Harare PPLN team, posed several questions, one of them being the participation of witnesses in vote counting at the polling station.

PPLN Harare will facilitate Indonesian citizens keen on being voluntary witnesses for the calculation of the voting results. This is considered as an important process for accountable elections.

According to data from the Indonesian Embassy in Harare, there are 207 Indonesian citizens in Zambia. More than 50 percent of Indonesians in Zambia work at the Kansashi Mining Company.
