As one of UN organizations, UNICEF provides humanitarian assistance and the development of long-term welfare for children and their mothers in developing countries.
The orientation of healthy schools was implemented after the 12 schools were trained by the Palu City Secretariat Team which was assisted by the Provincial Health Office last August.
"All school activities are made by SWOT analysis albums to find out things that affect other programs and it turns out to be very effective for the schools," Palu City Health Office Secretary Ilham Arsyad remarked after a meeting with a team from UNICEF on Wednesday.
Arsyad said the healthy school program was very effective because all the indicators in it were very influential on students, parents, teachers and the community.
In it, he said there was a literacy movement to increase students` knowledge, and breakfast together to make students more excited and not easily weak when receiving lessons and implementing toothbrushes together, both at school and at home.
According to him, with the existence of the healthy model school activities, the number of student attendance increased from 84 percent to 92 percent, the decrease in the number of sick students from 43 people to 26 people or around 60 percent.
He added, in healthy schools also carried out periodic checks twice a year to all students.
