Indonesia has enjoyed longstanding relations with Sudan in several fields, Indonesian Ambassador to Sudan Rossalis R. Adenan noted in a statement, made available to Antara here on Wednesday.
"Indonesia is ready to share its expertise and experience with Sudan," he remarked while addressing a diplomatic reception held at the Assalam Rotana Hotel in Khartoum to mark the 73rd anniversary of Indonesia's independence.
Sudanese Culture Minister Altayeb Hasan Badawi also attended the reception as an honorary guest representing President Omar Al Bashir.
Also present at the event were several Sudanese top officials, ambassadors, defense attaches, diplomats, academics, businessmen, and social figures.
Adenan further expressed happiness as the new Indonesian ambassador to Sudan and praised various parties in Sudan for their positive welcome to the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum.
He also lauded the close relations between Sudan and Indonesia, particularly in the political field, and expressed optimism that the relations would be expanded to cover the economic field as part of the efforts to enhance trade ties between the two nations.
Minister Badawi remarked that sound relations between the two countries initiated during the Asia Africa Conference in 1955 in Bandung, West Java, encouraged Sudan to declare its independence in 1956.
Indonesia is also keen to establish sound relations with Sudan as was reflected by then president Abdurrahman Wahid`s visit to Sudan in 2009 and President Joko Widodo`s special invitation to Sudan to attend the 50th anniversary of the Asia Africa Conference in 2015.
