Laiskodat, who is also the chairperson of the South Jakarta Indonesian Businesswomen Association (Iwapi), represented Indonesia at the APEC Best Award 2018, which was contested in seven categories.
She competed with participants from Chile, Papua New Guinea, South Korea, Japan, China, China Taipei, the Philippines, and Russia.
The award was delivered by PNG`s Secretary General of Youth and Public Empowerment, Ana Solomon.
A jury of the competition, Rina Zoet, remarked that the panel of jury has named Laiskodat as one of the winner for her efforts to combine local handicrafts, produced by craftswomen, with contemporary arts to attract international market.
It is part of her continuous work to empower craftswomen while preserving the "ikat" woven fabric of East Nusa Tenggara.
The APEC Best Award is one of activities held during the APEC Women Economic Forum 2018 in Port Moresby.
The award is given to micro, small and medium-scale businesswomen who have run their business for two to seven years and have reached the break-even point.
It is aimed at creating opportunities; attracting investors, media, and the public; and encouraging businesswomen to expand their business to the international market.
Indonesia`s Minister of Women Empowerment and Children Protection, Yohana Yembise, who also attended the forum, expressed her pride, saying that the award has proved Indonesian businesswomen`s capability to compete in the international market.
