Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The athlete house in Kemayoran, Jakarta, is designed to meet the standards of an athlete village that can provide comfort for athletes who will stay there to compete at the Asian Para Games from Oct 6 to 13, 2018.

This can be seen from the physical appearance of a sturdy structure, precision detail work, and the final touches that distinguish between ordinary flats and athletes` houses.

Kemayoran athletes? house, known as Kemayoran Athlete Village, is equipped with open spaces on each floor, meeting rooms, and spaces that are used for sports facilities.

All rooms provided have hot water facilities in each bathroom, in addition to all furniture such as sofa, television, air conditioning, and other household appliances that have also been provided for athletes and officials.

The Kemayoran Athlete Village is now 100 percent ready for the upcoming Asian Para Games in October, according to Public Works and Public Housing Ministry.

Developed by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing and the state-owned residential developer Perum Perumnas, the Kemayoran Athlete Village is for the disabled athletes who will participate in the Asian Para Games.

"The Kemayoran Athlete Village is 100 percent ready, and we have prepared facilities for athletes with special needs who will compete in the upcoming Asian Para Games," Public Works and Public Housing Ministry Director General for Housing Facilities, Khalawi Abdul Hamid, remarked in a release on Thursday.

Hamid stated that some necessary improvements will be made at several points to prepare for the arrival of athletes with special needs from various countries, who will stay at the Kemayoran Athlete Village, comprising 15 tower buildings with 7,426 units, which can accommodate more than 20 thousand people.

According to him, a number of room units and facilities, such as ramps, lifts for wheelchair access, signage and directories in public areas, railings on stairs, and guide tiles for athletes with special needs, have all been prepared.

Further, Hamid added that there was a special request from the Indonesia Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) related to the procurement of special mattresses for the athletes.

However, he remarked that the mattress used during the 2018 Asian Games event was still good and could be used by the Asian Para Games athletes.

"I think the mattresses used by the Asian Games athletes are still good enough for use by the athletes who will compete in the Asian Para Games," Hamid explained.

But he added that other improvements will also be done so that the Asian Para Games athletes from many countries could enjoy the same comfort as that of the Asian Games athletes.

A total of 42 countries have planned to send their delegates to take part in the 2018 Asian Para Games.

And as many as 2,888 athletes from those countries have been registered for the Asian Para Games, based on data received by the INAPGOC.

Hence, it is expected that the great pleasure and enjoyment of the just ended 2018 international sporting event of Asian Games can continue in the upcoming Asian Para Games in Jakarta.

Indonesians have all the reasons to beam with joy, taking into account the results of the 18th Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang so far.

With athletes, representing their countries, reinforcing friendly yet heated competition with their opponents, the Asian Games is one of the biggest celebrations of international relations with the Asian Community.

When giving directions to INAPGOC in Jakarta on Friday, Jokowi expressed hope that the wonderful atmosphere for at the Asian Games would continue at the Asian Para Games in October.

The effort to maintain a happy atmosphere aims to motivate the Asian Para Games athletes and also feel happy while participating in the match.

The government has held limited meetings related to the 2018 Asian Para Games preparations and Jokowi has also given directions to the committee to make maximum efforts in welcoming state guests who will take part in the sporting event.

At the Asian Para Games, the Ministry of Youth and Sports targets Indonesia to rank among the top seven.

"We expect Indonesia to rank among the top seven at the 2018 Asian Para Games. Indonesia ranked in the ninth position at the 2014 Asian Para Games in Incheon, South Korea," Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi has stated.

The Indonesian contingent is expected to win 16 gold medals from 18 sports.

At the 2014 Asian Para Games, Indonesia had collected a total of nine gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 18 bronze medals.

Hence, the minister urged Chef de Mission (Cdm) of Asian Para Games 2018, Arminsyah, to ensure that the results of the trial championships can meet the target.

In addition, the 2018 Asian Para Games highlighted the spirit of equality for persons with disabilities.

A total of 41 countries, with 2,800 athletes, 1,800 officials, and 500 media, both domestic and foreign, will participate in the 2018 Asian Para Games.

The 2018 Asian Para Games will offer 18 sports, namely basketball, volleyball, fencing, table tennis, swimming, shooting, judo, cycling, chess, weightlifting, bowling, goalball, badminton, running, archery, boccia, handball, and tennis.
