Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission Inspector General Basaria Panjaitan has urged all the members of the Indonesian Women`s Congress (Kowani) to become agents of the "I am Anti-Corruption women" or SPAK.

Panjaitan made the remarks at the first session of the Women`s Organization National Meeting, held here on Friday, September 14, in conjunction with the 35th International Women`s Council (ICW) General Assembly.

The women`s meeting took place as part of the 35th ICW General Assembly, currently being held in Yogyakarta.

"If all 62 million members of KOWANI work to eradicate corruption, we will be able to eliminate corruption by next year if we have the will (to eradicate corruption)," Basaria remarked.

Data from KOWANI revealed that currently, the number of women`s organization members reached 62 million people across the country`s 34 provinces and 514 districts / cities throughout Indonesia.

In addition, Panjaitan said the role of women and mothers in eradicating corruption was still minimal, even though they have the potential to prevent corruption from an early age through the education and care of children.

KPK conducted a survey of mothers from all over Indonesia, with the main question being whether children were taught honesty in the family, and only 4 percent answered "yes", she stated.
