Bantul, Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Representatives of public figures and elements of society in Bantul District, Yogyakarta Special Region, held a declaration on peaceful, safe, and cool 2019 general elections here on Sunday for the realization of democracy with integrity.

The declaration took place in front of Bantul Market, and was participated in by Bantul Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Sahat M Hasibuan, Bantul Regional Secretary Riyantono, Bantul Election Commission Chairperson Muhammad Johan Komara, Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) Chief Harlina, and the representatives of community figures.

On the occasion they unfurled banners reading `#Pemilu Aman Damai Sejuk# in the presence of thousands of people who attended the Bantul car free day event.

Bantul Bawaslu Chairperson Harlina said the declaration was held in order to realize a secure and conducive public security and order in the face of the 2019 presidential and vice presidential elections and the legislative elections.

"We are determined to succeed in the 2019 elections that are safe, cool and peaceful in Yogyakarta as an effort to build the Indonesian nation to be more prosperous and just, based on the Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution in the framework of the Republic of Indonesia," she said.

In addition, the declaration of peaceful elections aims to

encourage the public to exercise their right to vote, in order to elect a pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates, and the

members of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Regional Representative Council (DPD), and Regional Legislative Council (DPRD).

"Let us support the government to organize the direct, public, free, honest and fair general elections with integrity in accordance with the applicable regulations," she said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the KPU Bantul Muhammad Johan Komara said, the campaign stages of the 2019 Election would begin on September 23, 2018 or three days after the determination of the permanent candidate list (DCT) for members of the DPR, DPRD and DPD.

According to him, the success of the implementation of the General Elections is a joint responsibility, not only the election organizers in this case the KPU, but also the government, security forces and all elements of society.
