Deputy for Cultural Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Nyoman Shuida said a press statement received in Jakarta on Sunday said International Day of Peace is the right momentum to maintain peace.
This become even more important in Indonesia in the face of the campaign period for the legislative and presidential elections.
"Towards the 2019 political year, I invite all of us to always maintain a climate of unity as a nation. We have a diversity of cultures, beliefs and perspectives, all of which are assets that can strengthen us as a nation," said Shuida
Shuida asked all parties to be an example in sowing the values of tolerance. He also recounted the activities of the collaboration of the National Movement for Mental Revolution (GNRM) with the Parity Institute in building a tolerant culture.
One of the activities was the Peace Motivator workshop in various regions in Indonesia. For example in Purwokerto, he said, many young people are enthusiastic about building dialog and fostering tolerance.
"The interfaith youths visit each other to various places of worship and Islamic boarding schools with the mission of building harmony and peace between religious communities. Their passion needs to be imitated," said Shuida .
Such an attitude, according to Shuida, is important to emphasize because this country is absolutely the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) based its ideology Pancasila. Therefore, Shuida said that our duty is to continue to improve the behavior that supports the life of the Pancasila democracy.
He also reminded to continue to care for the culture of peace in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia so as not to be damaged by intolerant practices that are full of violence by irresponsible parties.
To prevent such things from happening, Shuida reminded of the importance of tolerance and refraining from doing harm to others, both physically and verbally.
"Implementing Pancasila can be started from a simple matter. For example, get used to helping, smiling and greeting regardless of differences in identity or political views," said Shuida.
