"Therefore, we hope to get Kotawaringin Timur`s tourism event calendar so that we can also create other events in our place to support the administration`s plans," Citimall Sampit General Manager Yus Arie Andrianto said here, Sunday.
Yus appreciated the intensified development of tourism infrastructures by the district administration as they have brough about positive impacts for people.
Currently, entertainment tours, shopping tours, culinary tours, as well as hospitality service businesses continue to grow in the district.
Citimall Sampit as a part of shopping and entertainment sites also gets the positive impacts with the increasing number of visitors to the biggest mall in Central Kalimantan.
Sampit is the biggest timber port in Indonesia. The seaport is located on the Sampit River in Central Kalimantan Province.
According to Yus, there should be an increase in synergy between the administration and the private sectors, especially those involved in tourism.
With a good coordination, the private sectors can also participate in supporting every event carried out by the administration.
"We are very supportive of the administration`s programs and are always open to make our place as an event venue," Yus said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Kotawaringin Timur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Susilo, said the private sector was eager to participate in efforts to improve tourism because it would bring about positive impact widely.
"Business people are certainly very supportive of this matter. Now, the administration should just involve or invite us to jointly carry out tourism development programs through various events," Susilo said.
According to Susilo, currently, tourism is one of the main sectors, and hence the Kotawaringin Timur District Administration should seize this opportunity as a new source of local revenue.
