Mukomuko, Bengkulu (ANTARA News) - Around 378 hectares of 400 hectares of new rice fields in the district of Mukomuko, Bengkulu, were originally oil palm plantations.

Around 95 percent of the 400 hectares of lands converted into rice fields were formerly oil palm plantations, head of infrastructure and facility section of the district agricultural service office Ali Mukhibin said here on Sunday.

The other five percent were farm lands growing other commodities, Ali Mukhidin said.

He said the budget for the opening of new rice fields in the village of Ranah Karya, sub-district of Lubuk Pinang was set at Rp2.5 billion.
