The student of the University of Indonesia believed that the Asian Para Games to be organized in Jakarta on Oct 6-13, 2018, would help increase the public`s empathy toward people with disability.
"The Asian Para Games` athletes are awesome. They can encourage other people with disability to do their best and make achievement," she said on the sidelines of Momo Parade held to promote the Asian Para Games 2018, here, Sunday.
She hoped that the Asian Para Games could emulate the success of the 18th Asian Games which was co-host by Jakarta and Palembang (South Sumatra) from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018.
"There is, however, a need to improve several technical matters like ticketing system complained by some people," she said.
Another volunteer, Teuku Aldefa, said he is enthusiastic to help support the Asian Para Games because he could gain valuable experiences, like what he did during the Asian Games 2018.
"Of the total 21 thousand applicants, only eight thousand people were accepted. So, the selection was very tight," the student of Gunadarma University said.
In addition, the Indonesian Asian Para Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) also recruited 400 people with disability as volunteers.
On Sept 21-26, 2018, INAPGOC also trained some 7.5 thousand volunteers to communicate and interact with athletes and officials of the largest multi sport event for people with disability in Asia.
The Asian Para Games will be attended by 2,800 athletes, 1,800 officials, as well as 500 media outlets from home and across 41 countries abroad.
Athletes will compete in a total of 18 sports branches in the event including basketball, volleyball, fencing, table tennis, futsal, swimming, shooting, judo, cycling, chess, weightlifting, bowling, badminton, running, boccia, archery, handball, and tennis.
