"Precautionary measures must be taken, for instance, by holding peaceful declarations in as many places as possible up to villages. We have to promote togetherness," Karnavian noted at the National Police Headquarters Building, Jakarta, on Monday.
He appealed to the people to not conduct provocative mass mobilization that could trigger conflict during the campaign.
"We will act firmly against black and unlawful campaigns as well as those campaigns containing criminal elements," Karnavian noted.
Precautionary measures, such as holding a video conference with stakeholders in the region, should also be taken since based on experience, the success of the election was supported by synergy among all related elements.
In maintaining election security, the National Police had involved networks: General Elections Commission (KPU) and its networks in the regions as well as the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) and Indonesian Defense Forces.
At the coordination meeting, stakeholders in the regions were urged to identify potential vulnerabilities in their respective regions that differed across regions.
"It cannot be generalized, but later, it will be elaborated by the region, and we will continue to monitor it," he noted.
He emphasized that the 2019 Election will last for only a certain period, while the Indonesian people, as a nation, must continue to remain united.
The KPU, on Sunday, organized a peaceful general election campaign in Jakarta.
Indonesia`s two pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates as well as leaders of their coalition parties attended the declaration of peaceful election campaigns on Sunday by wearing traditional attire.
Held at the National Monument area, which has become an icon of the country`s capital city Jakarta for decades, the declaration sent out a message of the importance of preserving the nation`s unity in diversity.
Incumbent President Joko Widodo and his running mate Muslim cleric Ma`ruf Amin wore traditional dresses of the Balinese and Betawi people respectively, while the Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno pair wore the attire of different ethnic groups.
Subianto wore a Javanese traditional dress, combined with brown Batik and "Blangkon," or a traditional Javanese hat, while his running mate, Sandiaga Uno, wore a brown Malay outfit, known as "Teluk Belanga."
