New York (ANTARA News) - Vice President M Jusuf Kalla attended the general debate of the 73rd UN General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York on Tuesday morning.

This is the fourth time in a row that Kalla is attending the UN General Assembly since he took office in 2014.

During the opening of the general debate, Kalla was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani and Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi.

The general debate which started at 09.00 a.m. will end at 01.15 p.m. local time and will be followed by lunch hosted by UN Secretary General Ant?nio Guterres at North Delegates Lounge at 02.25 p.m. local time.

The debate is a forum for leaders of UN member states to speak of global issues. At least 95 heads of state, four vice presidents, 42 heads of government, three vice prime ministers and four ministers are expected to speak before the general assembly this time.

Following the general debate, Kalla is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with UN Secretary General Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development Dutch Queen Maxima from 02.30 to 02.50 p.m. local time and speak at the High Level Event on Action for Peacekeeping in the Trusteeship Council Chamber for around three minutes.

On the third day of his visit to New York, Kalla is scheduled to attend an informal reception hosted by the Fijian prime minister at 100 UN Plaza Suite from 06.30 to 08.30 pm local time.
