Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Shenzen Airlines will start its operation at the Soekarno-Hatta International Aiport Terminal 3 from Friday (Sept 28) at 1 a.m.

Executive General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, M Suriawan Wakan, said in a statement received here on Thursday that the airline will land its first flight, with a mid-sized airplane, and will be welcomed with a water salute.

He further stated that the airline`s expansion indicated an increase in growth and connectivity as Soekarno-Hatta Airport continues to boost its competitiveness as a world-class facility while, at the same time, carrying the nation`s pride.

"The increase in growth continues to happen as PT Angkasa Pura II, the airport managing enterprise, continues to carry out infrastructure developments, including the establishment of the east-cross taxiway, third runway, the revitalization of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, as well as the construction of Terminal 4, in an effort to increase passenger and airplane capacities," Wakan noted.

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has been named as the airport with the most scheduled flight ratio.

It has also been dubbed as the second most connected airport in the Asia Pacific and 10th most connected airport in the world, defeating major airports, such as Incheon Korea, Kuala Lumpur International Airport Malaysia, and Hong Kong Airport, as revealed in the 2018 International Index Megahubs report on The World`s Most Internationally Connected Airports issued by British air travel intelligence agency, the OAG.

In 2017, the flow of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport reached 63 million passengers, making it the 17th busiest airport in the world. In 2018, it is estimated that the passenger flow number will reach 68 million.

"PT Angkasa Pura II continues to make various investments, including the establishment of the sky train facilities connected to the airport train," he pointed out.
