Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia will import 19 units of locomotive this year to support logistic transport.

KAI Chief Executive Edi Sukmor said KAI already has 278 locomotive not including the 19 units yet to come.

Edi said the the 19 units of locomotive cost Rp30 billion-Rp35 billion each .

Edi said the 19 new units of locomotive are needed to meet growing demand for railway transport.

In addition , there has been a regulation limiting cargoes in highway transport under the policy of `overload over dimension,` effective since August 1, 2018.
