Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Japan`s Ambassador to Indonesia Masafumi Ishii confirmed that his government was not planning to issue any travel advisory for Japanese nationals keen on visiting Indonesia or currently staying in that country.

The statement was made after Ishii held a meeting with Indonesia`s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs A. M. Fachir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta, Friday, regarding the earthquake and tsunami disaster that struck Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi, on Sept 28.

"As far as I know, there are no plans to issue any travel advisories," Ambassador Ishii clarified.

The Japanese Embassy in Jakarta stated that no travel warnings had been issued earlier, as the only information released to the public was that of the disaster in Central Sulawesi.

"The disaster was huge, but different areas were not affected. Earlier, we also had information on the earthquake that had struck Lombok as well, but I think other places in Indonesia are safe and sound," he added.

Ishii paid a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to meet Deputy Minister Fachir and deliver heartfelt condolences from the government and people of Japan.

He also reported the status of Japan`s assistance for the handling measures following the earthquake and tsunami in Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi.

The assistance include one C-130-H aircraft and some 51 personnel of Japan Disaster Relief Self-Defense Force Unit.

"The personnel and aircraft have been dispatched to Balikpapan, and they have arrived. Operation between Balikpapan and Palu will start tomorrow," he noted.

Additionally, he stated that emergency relief goods will arrive in Balikpapan this evening, including 500 tents, 20 water purifiers, 20 thousand flocculants, and 80 generators, all of which were provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and will be immediately distributed in the areas affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

Moreover, the private sector contributed to the assistance through the Jakarta Japan Club.

"More than 20 Japanese companies operating in Jakarta have gathered relief fund and goods through the Indonesian Red Cross and other relevant organizations, amounting to over Rp5 billion," he remarked.
