Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk has invited people in the country to migrate to using the Islamic bank financial services.

Chief Executive Officer of Bank Muamalat Achmad K. Permana remarked here on Monday that currently, several people have migrated in matters related to worship but not to using financial services in accordance with the Shari`a.

"We want to draw the attention of the public more broadly to the fact that saving at the Islamic bank is a move to a more blessed life," Permana noted during a press conference here.

Bank Muamalat invited the public to migrate financially through the #AyoHijrah campaign that was launched on Monday.

At the launch function, Muamalat also introduced a new name for banking service products by embedding the word "Hijrah," with examples including Hijrah iB Savings and Hijrah iB Deposits.

The hijrah campaign was based on the company`s aspirations to become the center of the Islamic economic ecosystem in Indonesia.

In addition, Bank Muamalat is keen to contribute to building a "halal" industry in the country that is aligned with the developments in digital technology.

"Opportunities for Islamic banks to grow are still very large. Most of Indonesia`s population is Muslim, and economic growth is also quite good," he remarked.

Furthermore, Muamalat is keen to contribute to improving financial literacy and inclusion through the movement.

Based on data from the Financial Services Authority, the level of financial literacy in Indonesia in 2016 only reached 29.16 percent, with the level of Islamic financial literacy in the same year recorded at only 8.11 percent.

Currently, Bank Muamalat contributes 15 percent of the national Islamic banking market share. On the other hand, the market share of Islamic banking for the national banking market share is still 5.7 percent.
