"The loan from the IMF is not an option, because the Indonesian economy does not need it," Lagarde said.Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - Having a good economic condition, Indonesia currently does not need assistance or loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), its Managing Director Christine Lagarde has ensured.
"The loan from the IMF is not an option, because the Indonesian economy does not need it," Lagarde said in a statement received in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Tuesday.
Lagarde said that Indonesia`s current economic management has been carried out optimally through coordination between the government, Bank Indonesia and related parties.
"Indonesia`s economy is very well managed by President Jokowi, Governor Perry, Minister Sri Mulyani, Minister Luhut, and their colleagues," she said.
On the occasion, Lagarde also expressed her condolences for the natural disasters of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara and Palu, Central Sulawesi.
"Our sympathy goes for those who survive, to those who have lost their loved ones, and to all the people of Indonesia," she said.
For this reason, as a symbol of solidarity, the IMF staff and management provided assistance worth Rp2 billion to help with the reconstruction and disaster recovery process.
"We will also open up opportunities for participants of the Annual Meeting so that they can also contribute," Lagarde said.
Despite the disaster, Lagarde also expressed appreciation to the Indonesian government for not canceling the holding of the Annual Meeting in Bali.
According to her, the cancellation could eliminate the opportunity to show Indonesia`s contribution to the world and create opportunities and employment.
"Canceling the Annual Meeting of IMF-WB is not an option because it will waste the resources that have been budgeted for the past three years," she said.
