"We gradually overcome these obstacles, and we hope to achieve 100 percent network recovery immediately in the near future," Indosat Ooredoo Network Operations Group Head Umar Hadi remarked in a written statement received here on Monday.
Hadi noted that along with the team on the field, he had continued to work hard to restore the network fully, as Indosat Ooredoo realizes that communication is one of the important necessities to coordinate and send news in the midst of emergencies and a period of disaster recovery.
The Indosat Ooredoo network had also recovered earlier for vital public areas, such as ports, airports, hospitals, and government offices, since October 1, 2018.
In addition to the Palu and Donggala areas, Indosat Ooredoo`s network continues to serve the community well in several districts around the main earthquake-hit locations, such as North Mamuju and Sigi.
According to Hadi, the lack of electricity supply is a major obstacle, coupled with the damage and difficulty faced in reaching the location of each Base Transceiver Station (BTS) as a result of the earthquake, so the BTS recovery process takes time.
"The distribution of fuel for generator sets for BTS is also a challenge in the recovery of several BTS operations," he pointed out.
In order to support smooth communication for the community, especially during the disaster recovery period, he remarked that the company had again included free telephone and SMS assistance that had earlier been given.
Free telephone and SMS assistance to all operators is provided until October 14, 2018, wherein there is no need to register certain packages and can be enjoyed directly by customers in the affected area.
